[1] set of clothing, including a long snakeskin coat
[1] doctor's bag, black
[1] revolver, no ammunition
[1] crusty heel of bread
[2] strips of dried meat
[1] scalpel
[a whole bunch of] antibiotics and painkillers
[1] "plaguefinder" lens, which allows him to see clouds of Sand Plague from a distance
Personality: Bachelor Dankovsky is a famous prodigy from an unnamed Capital somewhere in Fantasy Russia, and boy, does he let everyone he comes across know it. He's devoted wholly to the medical sciences, with a special, somewhat obsessive drive to - in his words - defeat death. His study of thanatology is what takes him to the small town in the Fantasy Russian Steppe. When he arrives and learns that the so-called immortal he's come to see has been murdered, he laments that it may have been the murder of Bachelor Dankovsky as well.
Yeah.
Needless to say, the Bachelor is no stranger to melodramtic pretentiousness, with a tendency to act Above It All. The random Latin sprouting is just the cherry on top. He's very intelligent, it's true, with a highly logical mind. Dankovsky scoffs at supernatural explanations the Steppe people have for the plague running wild in their town despite the overwhelming proof that their "superstitions" have factual basis. It's a defensive mechanism that slowly wears down. The man becomes desperate as the situation in town worsens, as he struggles to find meaning in the work he intitally threw himself into wholeheartedly. In the early days of the outbreak, Dankovsky works tirelessly. The man doesn't sleep; he passes out. He's oblivious much else beyond his mission.
And then the reality comes crashing down on his head. One such breaking point is the eighth day, when the Inquisitor Aglaya reveals that the lab he was desperately trying to save, the lab being held hostage by The Powers That Be, had already been destroyed. His work burned. Dankovsky may be logically minded, but he is, at heart, a dreamer, and in that instant his dreams were shattered. That is why he latches onto the physics-defying Polyhedron at the edge of town. The product of genius, the proof that dreams can be attained. Preserving it becomes his new reason for being.
Other characteristics include genuine compassion... as long as the suffering party is important to him/his mission in some way, shape or form. Yes, the Bachelor has a soft(ish) spot for kids, and he's faithful to his duties as a doctor, but he WILL rob random families blind if he believes the end justifies the means. When you're dealing with an intense survival situation (hello snowhell!), you have to make do, and sometimes that means stealing everything that isn't nailed down. It definitely means rooting through every trash bin that exists, because you never know what you will find/be able to trade with the locals. The children of the Steppe carry bullets that they will trade for rusty needles and razors, after all.
Flavor Abilities: N/A
Suitability: Dankovsky spends his entire canon trapped in a small remote town, battling illness and injury while fighting to keep himself fed and watered. Norfinbury, by comparison, is almost a vacation. To make him less comfortable (and because I'm a jerk), I would like to bring him in with a Sand Plague infection, which is lethal unless he stays on top of his old timey antibiotic regimen.
